CIHRA's Julie Revers is the Winner of the 2021 Jamie Huntley-Park Award

About the Jamie Huntley-Park Award

The Jamie Huntley-Park Pacific District Women's Officiating Camp (PDWOC) took place September 23-26, 2021 in Portland, Oregon.  The Pacific District Women's Officiating Camp has occurred in previous years, and the camp was conducted by Jamie Huntley-Park, with some of her closest friends and staff members, Jackie Spresser, Kendall Hanley, and Alicia Hanrahan.  The Pacific District has always been incredibly supportive of Jamie's initiative and vision for this camp, and the camp has grown to include campers from nearby districts as well.

Jamie was a long-time official, player, and coach.  She and her husband, Ryan Park, both San Diego Detectives, were tragically killed in an automobile accident on June 4, 2021.

Jamie's friends and the Pacific District felt that it was important to honor Jamie and her legacy by continuing with her vision to grow female officials and to continue with the Pacific District Women's Officiating Camp.  In 2021, the Jamie Huntley-Park Award was created to recognize deserving officials of the Jamie Huntley-Park Pacific District Women’s Officiating Camp. Jamie had a vision for this camp, for growing female officials, and she successfully implemented and led the camp for a number of years before her passing. The award is voted on by the staff of the Jamie Huntley-Park PDWOC and is given to the official that best represents the characteristics that made Jamie an extraordinary individual, official, instructor, and friend.

The following was written by the camp staff, and was used to select the award recipient:

"Jamie was the epitome of perseverance. She never settled for being ordinary or mediocre. She loved the sport of hockey. She was a tenacious player, and she was deeply loved by the teams that she coached. She practiced like she’d never won,  and she played like she’d never lost. She made immense impacts upon everything she touched, especially the world of hockey. Jamie was one of the greatest female officials there has ever been. She excelled at the grassroots level of officiating,    and she quickly propelled herself to the international stage, working multiple World Championships while preparing for her inevitable Olympic debut.

Jamie was the ultimate teammate, and she would always extend herself to anyone in need, never thinking twice. Jamie would share and promote the dreams of others, and she made everyone strive to be better, simply by her presence. Jamie believed that people could be better together than anyone could be alone. She worked just as hard at being a great teammate as she did at being a great official. She inspired others by showing them how amazing they were, not by showing how amazing she was.

Jamie was a protector and a defender. She was a warrior, and she refused to stay seated during hard times. She faced extraordinary circumstances with courage, honor, and grace. She had strength and spirit, and she never lost compassion or concern. She was bold.  Jamie was passionate, she led a life of service, and she lifted everyone around her while striving to be her best. Jamie would laugh as much as she would breathe. She was a true gift to this world, and knowing her was a gift to the heart.  May we all strive to be like Jamie."

The award itself displays the following language: "USA Hockey and the Pacific District Women's Officiating Camp present the Jamie Huntley-Park Award for your outstanding perseverance, teamwork, and love for the sport of hockey."

The 2021 Jamie Huntley-Park Award recipient is CIHRA's own, Julie Revers.  Julie is incredibly worthy of this award, not only for her performance at this camp but always.  Julie regularly conducts herself with honor, both on and off the ice, and any district would be lucky to have more people like her.
